Nitro’s Biggest Year Yet: A Look Back at 2026

I’m Nico, and I help lead the team behind Nitro. Our goal is simple: make Nitro the best membership in gaming.

Since I joined Discord in 2022, my priority has been making Nitro earn its place in your setup. As a gamer, I know how fast new games, subscriptions, and battle passes stack up. When you spend money with us, we want it to be completely worth it.

The best perks are the ones you stop noticing because everything works smoothly when you need it. This year, we doubled down on making the things you do every day even easier.

We doubled your file upload limit, from 500MB to 1GB. Now you can drop longer clips, high-res videos, and whatever massive file your friend insists everyone needs to see. No compression gymnastics required.

Turns out you loved it as much as we did: 1GB uploads took the crown as our most popular launch this year, with 75% of members saying they love it¹.

Early access to Clips. Next time someone yells “CLIP THAT,” you can actually do it without alt-tabbing to three different apps. Hit your hotkey, capture the moment, and drop the video straight into chat. And stay tuned, we’ve got plenty more coming for Clips.

Switch Up the Vibe: Making Discord Feel Like You

Your Discord, your rules. Whether you're feeling chaotic, ultra zen, or somewhere quirky in between, your Discord should match your energy. This year was all about giving you new ways to bring that personality straight into the chat.

Custom Typing Indicator: The “…is typing” dots have been keeping group chats in suspense for years. Now, Nitro members on mobile can customize their animation and status text. Give the server a polite heads-up next time you’re about to yap their ears off or overshare your life story.

Display Name Styles: We dropped a few new fonts and two effects (coolest ones yet IMO) so you can show your vibe across your profile, chat, and member lists.

Profile Frames: Earlier this year, you got first access to Profile Frames. Plus, your Nitro discount applies automatically in the Shop, so treating yourself or gifting something to your duo costs less.

Keep Your Quest Rewards: With Nitro, you can keep your Quest avatar deco rewards around longer. On top of that, you’ll get a 20% Quest multiplier, making it easy to grab what you want in the Shop without spending a dime.

Nitro Rewards: Leveling Up Your Gaming Setup

Your gaming setup doesn’t end at the edge of the Discord window. If your Friday night voice call is anything like mine, half the battle is just getting four people to agree on what to play without someone having to drop $70 on a game they might abandon by Tuesday.
